Airbed and camp bed fit

A guide, not advice. Check your kit maker's figures before you buy or pack.

Short answer
Enter the usable bedroom-pod dimensions and the size of your airbed or camp bed. The checker estimates the number that fit in a regular grid, including a rotated layout. It cannot account for sloping tent walls, doors, poles or movement space, so compare the result with the maker's floor plan.
Worked example
| You enter | Value |
|---|---|
| Bedroom pod usable length | 2.1 m |
| Bedroom pod usable width | 2.4 m |
| Airbed or camp bed length | 1.9 m |
| Airbed or camp bed width | 0.75 m |
| Gap between beds and walls | 0.1 m |
| Number of beds to fit | 2 |
The rectangular grid estimate fits 2 beds.
| Result | Value |
|---|---|
| Estimated bed capacity | 2 |
| Layout check | The rectangular grid estimate fits 2 beds. |
| Better orientation | lengthwise |

- Rotated grid: 2 beds
- Best grid estimate: 2 beds (lengthwise)
How it works
- Beds per row = floor((room width + gap) ÷ (bed width + gap))
- Rows = floor((room length + gap) ÷ (bed length + gap))
- Repeat the calculation after rotating each bed 90° and use the larger count
This is a regular grid estimate. It does not account for sloping tent walls, doors, the centre pole, bed shapes or room for people to move. Check the manufacturer's dimensions and tent floor plan.
Our figures (adjustable)
These are our planning allowances and, once checked, typical figures with their sources. They aren't facts about your kit: change any of them in the calculator.
This calculator has no built-in defaults: every figure comes from you or your kit's own label.

FAQs
Should I use the full tent footprint?
No. Use the usable inside dimensions of the bedroom pod where the bed will go. Check any shape changes, poles, doors and sloping walls on the tent plan.
Does this include space to walk around the beds?
Only the gap you enter. Leave enough access for your group and check the actual layout before choosing a tent.
