Kit weight total

A guide, not advice. Check your kit maker's figures before you buy or pack.
The calculator needs JavaScript. The worked example, sum and figures below show exactly how it works, so you can do it yourself. A guide, not advice.
Short answer
Enter the weights of your packed items to see a total, then optionally compare it with an allowance. Weigh the packed kit if precision matters. Check vehicle payload, roof-load and any other limits for your trip.
Worked example
| You enter | Value |
|---|---|
| Packed item weights | 12, 4.5, 3.2, 8 kg |
Your entered kit weighs 27.7 kg
| Result | Value |
|---|---|
| Total kit weight | 27.7 kg |
| Allowance check | Enter an allowance to compare. |
Show the working
- Item weights: 12 + 4.5 + 3.2 + 8 = 27.7 kg
How it works
- Total kit weight = sum of the packed item weights entered
- Compare total kit with the carrying allowance you enter
Weigh packed items if the figure matters. Respect vehicle payload, roof-load, trailer, airline or campsite equipment limits that apply to your trip.
Our figures (adjustable)
These are our planning allowances and, once checked, typical figures with their sources. They aren't facts about your kit: change any of them in the calculator.
This calculator has no built-in defaults: every figure comes from you or your kit's own label.

FAQs
Should I use the product's advertised weight?
For a precise packed total, weigh the item as you will carry it, including bags, batteries and accessories.
Does this tell me whether a vehicle is overloaded?
No. It totals the kit figures you enter. Check the vehicle manual and account for passengers, fuel, luggage and all applicable load limits.
