Serviced pitch

A serviced pitch is a campsite pitch with utilities provided on the pitch, usually an electric hook-up and a water supply, and sometimes a drainage point. What counts as serviced varies between sites, so the word alone does not tell you what you will get.

Where you'll see it

Booking pages use the term alongside ground types such as grass or hardstanding, and sometimes list each connection as a separate item. Read the list of inclusions carefully, because one site's full service may be another's partial one. Check whether any connection is an extra charge on top of the pitch.

What to check

  • Exactly which connections are listed: electric, water, drainage or something else.
  • The electrical supply the site states for your pitch, and how far your lead must reach.
  • Whether the lead and connectors are marked for outdoor use, and the labels on your appliances before you plug in. See hook-up.
  • Whether the connection serves the whole pitch or sits at one point.
  • Whether you need to bring your own hose, lead or adaptor.
  • Hook-up: the electric connection most serviced pitches include.
  • Hardstanding: a ground type that may come with services.
  • Pitch: the space allocated to you.
